Three Great Things about Strafford Park

By Nate Feldman

Strafford Park is an exceptional place to spend an afternoon.  Although it is relatively small, it offers a wide array of enjoyable activities for people of all interests.  Here are some of the things you can do while in the area.

1. Sit under a tree on a hot day

There are many places you can do this.  At the back of the park is a forested area with a dirt path you can walk along.  There are also many shaded areas in the playground situated in front of the woods.

2. Play Sports

The park has tennis courts which are often filled with local players.  There are tennis tutorials offered throughout the year.  There is also a basketball court and a baseball field.

3. Read a book at the library

You can go inside the Tredyffrin library to read, or you can read on the balcony behind the library facing the park. The library has two floors of books of all genres and offers places to work, study, and have meetings or special events.

Extra Activities:

The park slopes down a large hill from the library to the playground.  During the winter months, when it snows, a lot of people go sledding down the hill.  The path in the woods is also an ideal spot for cross-country skiers.

While you are in the area:

Visit the Strafford Farmer's Market, a short distance away.  It is open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays throughout the year and has a large variety of fresh produce and food.

More About Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, GA

By Nate Feldman

Last month, I posted about three great things people can do while visiting the Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta, Georgia.  I mentioned that it was a great place for enjoying the view of Atlanta from the SkyView Atlanta Ferris wheel, getting wet in the fountain of rings shaped like the Olympic insignia, and having a nice walk along the park's many paths.  Now, I am attaching a video about my visit to the park.

Three Great Things about Crabby Creek Park in Berwyn, PA

By Nate Feldman

Crabby Creek Park is an oasis of peace and serenity in the middle of Berwyn, PA, an otherwise highly residential community, 20  miles outside of Philadelphia.  While the park itself is not particularly big, 48 acres according to the Tredyffrin Township website, it is a great way to spend time, especially when the weather is nice.  Here are some things you can enjoy while there:

1. A Walk Along the Trail

Although the path is relatively short, it is located in a quiet area, so it is a great place to enjoy nature while collecting your thoughts.  You can walk towards a tunnel at the end of the park in one direction, and some houses in the other.

2. Sitting Beside the Creek

There are several areas you can do this at.  At the end of the trail, before the creek goes under the tunnel, there is a small rocky area to sit and enjoy the sound of the flowing water.

3. A Great Place for Pictures

The woods offer great images for both photography and painting enthusiasts.

Three Great Things about the Fourth of July

By Nate Feldman

Americans celebrate their Independence Day on July 4 every year.  There are many things that make this day special, but I'll list three that come to mind.

1. Remembering the importance of this country

In spite of its many imperfections, there are great reasons for Americans to be proud of this country.  It still is the land of opportunity for those who call it home.  Although it has not always lived up to this standard, the idea that all "men (and women) are created equal", and that we have "the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness", is an ideal we should strive for.

2. Being outdoors

Taking place in the middle of summer, this holiday is a great time for a picnic or any outdoor activity.  Of course, people always must be wary of storms which affected the fourth of July in some places this year.

3. Fireworks

Fireworks brighten up the night like nothing else and are fun for adults and children alike to behold.
This year, I went to Wilson Farm Park in Chesterbrook, PA for their annual firework show.
